About Gastric Girl

My name is Laurie. I'm 34 and I live in a suburb of Houston, TX. My life isn't super exciting or ultra dramatic, but I love it! My blogs are just a peek into my life as I know it. I'm quite random and have an opinion on everything, but I love everyone's aspect on things, even if I disagree. The world would be quite boring if not! :-)

Losing It.. and other Stuff.. :)

Happy Friday, guys and dolls!
Since we have the puppy at home, I've been spending a lot less time in front of the computer since he's a chewer.. and now I'm finally starting to catch up on some of my TV shows while playing Tug'o'War with the pooch!
Last night I watched Losing It from the first week.. I thought I had forgotten to tape it, but there it was.. It was about an overweight family with two of the family members having gastric bypass surgery (the same one I had). The father was unsuccessful and the daughter had lost all of her weight but she still hadn't worked on her head. I related to the daughter for a few reasons - she still has the "fat girl mentality" where she doesn't see herself as thin.. Sometimes I look in the mirror and see BS (before-surgery, and bull sh*t (HA)) Laurie looking back at me. It's sad, frustrating, and hard to shake! Also, I have a really hard time with accepting compliments. I just don't see or understand what other people see, b/c I see BS Laurie. I enjoyed this family because I related so well.. I watched part of the 2nd show but I didn't finish it. I realized that I still have a lot of work to do on myself. I knew this all along, but finally realized how important it is!

I must touch on Glee too... I freaking love this show! :) It's just plain fun.. I watch enough TV that is deep and thought provoking, so this is nice and refreshing for me! It started again from the beginning last night, so my mom and sister and a few friends are going to start watching it too! Wahoo! :)

I'm SOOOOOOOO glad that it's Friday. This weekend, I'm planning on further puppy proofing the house, getting a few things taken care of that I've been putting off, looking for some shorts for summer so I don't die in the heat, and just trying to get some relaxation time in! One of John's uncles is having a 50th birthday surprise party sometime on Saturday, so we'll be going to that as well.

I have a month until our vacation. I cannot wait! We're going to Orlando so I'll be meeting his sister and her family for the first time. We're also going to the new Harry Potter thingy at Universal, Disney World, and all that stuff. I sure hope I saved enough money... H&M also has a store in Orlando, so hopefully I can get a new wardrobe on the cheap while I'm there too!

I hope you all have a great weekend!!! xoxo

How fantastic to go on vacation! You must be so excited!!!

Thank you for posting about "Losing it". I have not yet watched the show, but it sounds like I need to. I've got a BS Heather too and I need her gone (or at least quiet for a little while). I think I'm going to watch the show today (thank God for On Demand).

Sounds like you're in for a great weekend! Happy Friday!!!

I never understood why it feels so EXTRA GREAT to shop while on vacations, but I will literally buy almost anything if I'm in another town! (See: wrestling mask.) I watched that first episode of Losing It too. That family was SO italian...haha, loved it. The show seemed a little weird to me though. I guess cause like, anyone can change in a week, but can they stick with it? I was happy to see they did. Still not sure how I feel about that show yet though...

Have a great weekend!! That is exciting about your upcoming vacation! I have a friend who wants to go to the Harry Potter theme park.

I just read your list from yesterday. I agree with a lot of those! I'm seeing the A-Team this weekend (so excited Bradley Cooper is in it!) When it comes to vampires, I'm more "Team Jasper" than "Team Edward" (don't hold it against me!) ;) I think Jasper is adorable. I'm sad he never had a shot at Bella! ;) It was always between Jacob and Edward.

I am envious that you have a puppy to play with, chewer or no! Enjoy him!

I will have to check out "Losing It"--I've never heard of it. I am a "Glee" fan too. It's a lot of fun.

Have a great week!

I know what you mean about taking compliments. It is sometimes harder to change the mind than the body. You look great though!

Have fun in Orlando and with your puppy!

I love "Losing It" but then i have a girl crush on Jillian as I think she is amazing. I have trouble with compliments too...someone gives me one and I immediately follow it with an excuse. Hate it!

Love GLEE!
