About Gastric Girl

My name is Laurie. I'm 34 and I live in a suburb of Houston, TX. My life isn't super exciting or ultra dramatic, but I love it! My blogs are just a peek into my life as I know it. I'm quite random and have an opinion on everything, but I love everyone's aspect on things, even if I disagree. The world would be quite boring if not! :-)

I'm Normal! Well, Relatively Speaking...

I honestly thought this day would never come.. Since my scale is flaky, it may leave me again, but for now, it's real! I have a BMI of 24.8, which is in the NORMAL range. I have gone from super morbidly obese with a BMI of 50.3 to a healthy, normal BMI of 24.8 in just 17 short months. It's a very surreal feeling! Am I where I want to be yet? No. If I stay here though, I will be alright. I could say I care less what the scale says now, but I know I'd be lying to myself and to you all. I just want to see the 140s. Even if it's for a moment. I think I was in the 140s when I was in 5th or 6th grade. Maybe not. I really don't remember that, I just remember being the fattest kid/adult anywhere I ever went. I'm not that girl anymore, but I still feel that way sometimes. Part of me wants her in my head still, so I can remember where I came from and to make sure I never go back there. The other part wants her forgotten, only to be a distant memory.
I really want to tone up a lot. I don't know how much of my thighs, butt, and stomach fat is really fat, or extra skin. I'm sure quite a bit is skin, but it's really hard telling. I'm ready to get back into a workout routine. Bike riding was so much fun, and I am excited to make that part of my workout, especially while the weather isn't excruciatingly hot! I also am ready to start taking classes, as that will spice things up a bit for me. There are so many different classes at all the 24 Hour Fitness places that are close to me. Some possibilities: belly dancing, hip hop, pilates, yoga, etc. I'm really looking forward to some variety. I'll always love the elliptical, but it'll be nice to do classes as well. Maybe it will make me a little more graceful.. doubtful, but one can dream! LOL
Well, I guess I should get back to work.. just wanted to check in and ramble a bit!
Hope all is well with everyone! :)
Hugs!

Grace is not my strong suit either, but classes can at least help a bit! Congrats on your normal BMI! I aspire to that!

Congratulations!! I think you're doing fantastic! I know what you mean about wanting to see the 140's... but heck at this point, I'd settle for seeing the 190's! AH!

Since you're in the normal range, I bet it's mostly skin... congrats on getting to "normal"!!!
